An exciting opportunity to work in the role of an Early Years Advisory Teacher within the with Home Learning Environment and Early Years Team.
The successful candidate will have a specific focus on supporting children with identified additional needs as they transition from their early years setting into Reception Year, supporting a robust localised transition process that is implemented throughout the year. This role involves working collaboratively with early years providers, schools, parents/carers and other professionals to improve outcomes for children. This post is central to supporting the delivery of inclusive practice with a focus on the development of high-quality provision, working across these partner agencies.
The post holder will be required to work directly with all early years’ providers across the sector and into Reception Year to provide advice and support all elements of the SEN graduated approach.
The successful candidate must have relevant experience of working directly in this age range and a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, the SEND Code of Practice and all related statutory duties.
To be successful in this post you will need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships with a range of different providers, have the skills to develop working relationships with a range of partners across Torbay, be able to prioritise and organise your own work and hold qualified teacher status.
In return you will be supported and welcomed into a team that are committed to working collaboratively with the early years sector and schools to improve outcomes for children, with a particular focus on developing inclusive learning environments that ensure effective delivery of the EYFS (or equivalent) that will support children by removing barriers to learning where these exist.
This position is for a fixed term of 12 months from the start date.
This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Essential:
* Ability to model effective high-quality practice in early years.
* Effective organisational skills, including the ability to plan work programmes which make optimum use of available resources, especially time.
* Effective interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a range of professionals including LA colleagues, early years practitioners and other agencies.
* Effective negotiation skills and the ability to deal with conflict.
* The ability to enthuse, motivate and inspire colleagues in the field of early years care and education and develop effective partnerships.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* A clear understanding of the principals involved in delivering an effective Early Years curriculum.
* Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (or equivalent) and how this translates into good practice.
* Knowledge of the evidence-based practice in early years.
* Knowledge of the current legislative framework within which schools and early years settings operate.
* Knowledge of Family Hubs and working practices.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Qualified Teacher Status.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Extensive experience of supporting Early Years children, including children with SEN.
* Extensive knowledge of early childhood development.
