We are looking for an experiencedCNC Programmer / CNC Machinistto join our growing client, supporting a wider mechanical engineering and fabrication operation.
The machine shop currently consists ofthree CNC milling machines and three CNC lathes, with a small, skilled team of machinists. The successful candidate will play a key role in programming, setting, and machining components used infixtures, jigs, machines, and engineered assemblies.
CNC Machinist Day to day responsibilities
* Programming, setting, and operatingCNC mills and CNC lathes
* Working on a mix ofoffline CAM programmingandon machine conversational programming
* Producing high quality components from engineering drawings
* Machiningone off or low volume parts(typically one offs and two offs)
* Programming using Hurco and OneCNC
* Using a variety of CNC equipment includingXYZ machines (Flexible on machine experience)
* Working to tight tolerances and high engineering standards
* Supporting the wider workshop where required including:
o Basic fitting
o Occasional welding or fabrication support
* Contributing ideas to improve machining methods and efficiency
Technical environment
* Machine shop supporting anengineering and machine fabrication business
* Components include:
o Fixtures and jigs
o Machine parts and sub assemblies
o Custom engineered components
* 3axis CNC milling
* CNC turning and Milling
* Conversational and CAM based programming
About you
You will be an experienced, hands on machinist who is comfortable owning jobs from programming through to finished component.
Essential experience:
* Minimum5 years experiencein CNC programming (not just setter/operator)
* As a CNC Machinist you will have a strong background inCNC Milling and Turning
* Experience withoffline CAM programmingandon machine conversational programming
* Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings
* Practical problem solving skills and attention to detail
* Willingness to assist with basic fitting or fabrication tasks when required
