Overview
My client are currently recruiting for skilled and motivated TIG Welder to join our manufacturing team at their site in Bala. You will be responsible for fabricating high-quality stainless steel and other alloy components used in scientific vacuum systems and research applications.
Salary £35,000 - £40,000 per annum; 4 day working week; death in service and other benefits.
Responsibilities
* Carry out TIG welding of stainless steel and other materials to a consistently high standard
* Work from engineering drawings, technical diagrams, and work instructions
* Ensure dimensional accuracy and weld integrity, conducting visual inspections and finishing work to customer specifications
* Support wider fabrication activities including cutting, forming, fitting, and light assembly as required
* Proactively identify and resolve fabrication or fitting issues during build
* Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure jobs are completed on time and to the required standard
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace at all times
* Take ownership of jobs from start to finish and support continuous improvement activities within the workshop
Skills & Requirements
* Proven experience in TIG welding, particularly with stainless steel (ideally in thin-wall and precision applications)
* Able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
* Strong fabrication and fitting skills - with a commitment to high-quality workmanship
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small, agile team
* Good problem-solving mindset with a practical, hands-on approach
* Experience with vacuum equipment or scientific instrumentation (desirable but not essential)
* Interest in engineering, science, and technical manufacturing
Terms & Benefits
* Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on skills and level of responsibility)
* Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 6:15am - 4:30pm (no working on Fridays)
* Contract: Permanent, full-time
* Annual Leave: 25 days per year plus bank holidays
