Mechanical Fitter
Location: Wrexham
£28.00ph Mon-Fri / £35ph Weekends
10-12Hour Days 3-6 Months
Travel or Accommodation Paid if requried
Responsibilities
* Carry out the mechanical installation, assembly, and relocation of production and packaging equipment within a food manufacturing setting.
* Perform rigging and lifting operations, ensuring compliance with LOLER and PUWER regulations.
* Assist in the safe movement, positioning, and alignment of machinery during site projects.
* Undertake maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment.
* Read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and manuals to complete installations accurately.
* Work as part of a team on factory moves, upgrades, and equipment commissioning projects.
* Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety requirements, maintaining high standards throughout.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to deliver work to agreed timescales and quality standards.
Key Requirements
* Time-served Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Engineer background.
* Demonstrable experience within the food manufacturing / FMCG industry.
* Strong knowledge of rigging, lifting, and machinery relocation techniques.
* Experience in assembly and installation of conveyors, mixers, pumps, packaging lines, and other food production equipment.
* Ability to work from engineering drawings and schematics.
* Awareness of HACCP, hygiene, and food safety standards.
* Valid rigging/lifting certifications (desirable).
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Strong commitment to health & safety.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Forklift, MEWP, or overhead crane licence.
* Knowledge of welding and fabrication.
* Previous involvement in factory relocation or installation projects.
