Overview
Head of Engineering & Infrastructure – Manchester (Hybrid Remote) - £95k
Ada Meher is working with a client in the SaaS financial reporting space as they search for a Head of Engineering & Infrastructure to spearhead a greenfield re-platforming and modernisation of their two core products. The role has backing from the board to make decisions on technical design and process implementations with autonomy and clear, measurable goals. There is an appetite to incorporate AI into both the product and development practices to improve efficiency and speed of delivery. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress into a CTO role as the business scales. The role requires local presence in Manchester with 2-3 days per week on-site, with flexible hours to deliver value to the business.
The position is a Greenfield Modernisation Project with a focus on modern technology and practices in a SaaS environment, including AI enablement and high autonomy.
Responsibilities
* Lead a greenfield re-platforming and modernisation effort for two core SaaS products, with a focus on speed, security, scalability and stability.
* Oversee modern technology adoption (e.g., microservices, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, TDD and automation testing) as part of a digital transformation.
* Lead teams with practical applications of AI in product features and development practices.
* Engage in strategic discussions on Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Information Security.
* Provide technical design decisions and governance with autonomy and clear, measurable goals.
* Collaborate with the board and senior leadership to align engineering initiatives with business outcomes.
Qualifications
* Strong background in Software Engineering (ideally PHP) or Infrastructure Engineering, with an understanding of the other discipline.
* Proven experience delivering modern technology and practices in a SaaS environment (Digital Transformation, microservices, CI/CD, IaC, TDD & Automation Testing).
* Knowledge of Cyber Security principles and frameworks (e.g., ISO / Cyber Essentials Plus).
* Experience utilizing AI as a product feature or a development tool.
* Ability to drive architecture and engineering decisions with autonomy and accountability.
