The Role
The Data Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the security of data systems and implementing measures to protect system integrity and sensitive information.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Develop and implement data security policies and procedures, including frameworks for protecting sensitive data, ensuring legal compliance, and managing data retention.
* Conduct data security audits, assess security controls, and identify areas for improvement.
* Manage data security incidents, respond to and investigate breaches, and report to authorities and affected parties.
* Provide data security training and awareness to employees on best practices, privacy regulations, and their roles.
* Collaborate with systems, legal, and other teams to integrate data security into all business aspects.
* Review and advise on data sharing agreements with third parties, ensuring compliance.
* Maintain records of processing activities, including Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).
* Assist in data protection impact assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
* Communicate with data protection authorities and respond to inquiries.
* Stay informed about data protection laws and emerging threats to ensure ongoing compliance and security.
Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum of 5 years experience in security measures: protocols, data security, cyber, and information security.
* Deep understanding of GDPR and other data protection laws.
* Proficiency in data security tools, encryption, and audit methodologies; ability to analyze threats and vulnerabilities.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in the travel technology industry is an advantage.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Law, or related field.
