About the role
The Senior Practitioner – Pods' main responsibility is to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, considering their race, culture, religion, and linguistic background.
They will manage an agreed caseload of children and young people, ensuring compliance with casework objectives, statutory, and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining high professional standards, including for complex cases.
The Senior Practitioner will undertake direct social work responsibilities as an allocated worker, investigating concerns about a child's safety or well-being, assessing risks and protective factors, and deciding on appropriate actions. They will conduct long-term work with families to meet needs and improve outcomes.
They will prepare high-quality reports for Court, support and prepare colleagues in court processes, including giving evidence. The role includes providing casework consultation and supervising students, trainees, less experienced team members, support staff, or volunteers.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification in social work.
* Active Social Work England registration and evidence of ongoing professional development.
Skills and experience
* Experience in team leadership, line management, performance management, and change management.
* Knowledge of relevant theories informing practice.
* Experience building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships, and co-producing solutions with diverse stakeholders, including children, young people, and families.
* Proven ability to use data and evidence for decision-making.
* Experience maintaining records and producing reports, presentations, and updates for stakeholders.
* Knowledge of statutory legislation (e.g., Children’s Act) and policy drivers affecting children’s services.
* Commitment to personal and professional development and coaching others.
* Experience addressing equality and diversity issues within practice.
