Air Conditioning Mechanic II - Clarkston Campus
Facilities Management Services – Building Maintenance - Zone 06
Location: Clarkston Campus (Location subject to change).
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (Shift subject to change).
Responsibilities
* Overhauls and services refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating units by repairing or replacing worn parts.
* Inspects equipment for needed repairs and performs routine maintenance.
* Tests refrigeration units for leaks; adds gas to refrigeration units.
* Monitors valves and gauges to ensure proper operation; adjust valves, pipes, etc., as needed.
* Changes and cleans oil and air filters.
* Operates Centrifugal and Reciprocating chillers.
* Assists in installing air conditioning and heating units and related equipment.
* May assist in training lower-level employees.
* Cleans work areas and equipment.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
* Technical or vocational degree and two years HVAC experience; or high school diploma or GED and four years HVAC experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications
* Knowledge of procedures, tools, and equipment used in the HVAC trade.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to access confined spaces.
* Ability to work in open areas, such as rooftops, etc.
* Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.
* Ability to operate tools and equipment used in the HVAC trade.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
* Ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail, train and supervise staff, lift approximately 50 pounds, exhibit excellent customer service, and interpret building drawings.
