Overview

The postholder is required to provide holistic midwifery care to services users across the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period within the Bicester Area and surrounding areas of Oxfordshire. We have a diverse caseload of service users within our catchment area. We provide care in the form of clinic appointments and home visits, so a driving license with appropriate insurance is essential. Our team also provide an on-call service (day and night on calls), where we facilitate community births across the county, supporting other teams as well as our own. We also support the Obstetric Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital as part of an escalation policy.

We are looking for a midwife who demonstrates kindness and compassion, and who is passionate about providing a gold standard of care. We have a very supportive team of midwives and support workers in Banbury, so adding to this nurturing atmosphere is essential.

Note: This job is primarily based at the Bicester Midwives Office at 5a Lower Farm Barns, Bucknell, OX27 7LT.


Responsibilities

* Provide holistic midwifery care across antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum periods.
* Deliver care in clinic appointments and home visits.
* Participate in on-call community shifts (day and night) and facilitate community births; support other teams and the Obstetric Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital as part of an escalation policy.
* Support a diverse caseload within the catchment area and contribute to a team-focused, nurturing environment.
* Collaborate with the Maternity Services across multiple units, with opportunities to rotate between units/departments providing care to both low and high-risk women.


Qualifications

* Existing NMC registration with UK Midwifery experience.
* Completed preceptorship in a UK hospital.
* Currently working at a Band 6 level.
* Full and part-time hours available. Must be a driver with access to a car for day and night on-call duties.


Employment details

* Locations: Bicester Midwives Office; on-call shifts day and night; community-based work.
* Opportunity to rotate across units/departments within the larger Oxfordshire Maternity Services network, including stand-alone Midwifery-Led Birth units and home birth services.


Team and wellbeing

* Substantial staff support network focused on wellbeing and development, including Midwifery Advocates, Wellbeing Champions, staff networks and a Maternity Psychologist.
* Support from Practice Development Team with regular study days and updates; emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and staff voice.
