Our client is a leading provider to the mining, manufacturing and rail industries. They are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager to join their growing team based in Welshpool.
This is a hands‑on Production Manager position situated within our client's busy workshop and ideal for someone with strong experience within steel fabrication and engineering.
The Role:
* Oversee daily scheduling and workflow planning to ensure resources, equipment, and personnel are effectively coordinated to meet project timelines and DIFOT targets.
* Manage supervisors, boilermakers, and other workshop team members to ensure productivity, discipline, and adherence to company standards.
* Maintain strict compliance with ISO and AS quality systems, including safety, documentation, and inspection processes.
* Drive a strong safety and quality culture, identifying and addressing risks, non‑conformances, and improvement opportunities.
* Monitor job progress, material usage, and labour hours to maintain cost control and project profitability.
* Review production reports, job cards, and quality records to ensure all fabrication meets technical specifications and client requirements.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing rework, and optimising team performance.
About You:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Production Manager capacity, ideally within mining or infrastructure.
* Demonstrated success in managing daily scheduling, supervising trades, OHS matters and quality compliance.
* Proven experience increasing company efficiency, improving internal processes and reducing costs.
* Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to lead, inspire, and support high‑performing teams.
* Unrestricted working rights.
* Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol assessment.
Other Important Details:
You’ll be based in a modern Welshpool workshop, equipped with state‑of‑the‑art machinery and systems that make your work safer, easier, and more efficient.
This position will initially commence on a casual basis, working Monday to Friday, generally 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Casual rates range from $65 to $80 per hour plus superannuation, depending on experience and capability. After approximately three months, the role will transition to a permanent position offering a package of $150,000 plus superannuation and a company vehicle.
