The Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS) manages essential Environmental Monitoring systems and datasets. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team supporting colleagues and analysing and improving the data that underpins our work. The role covers Water Quality systems and data, and may extend to other systems as needed. You will work closely with team members and can expect to be involved in the following:
* Set up and manage users
* Support users and resolve issues, particularly during transition to the new My Environment application
* Update, improve, and maintain datasets
* Respond to internal and external data requests
* Support system improvement and upgrade projects
Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed. Having an incident role is essential for working at the Environment Agency and helps support communities and prevent harm to the environment. Experience / Skills Required
* Experience working with large, complex datasets
* A willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems
* Motivation, organization, friendliness, and helpfulness with an eye for detail, comfortable working in a dispersed team environment
* Proactiveness and problem-solving ability
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others, and provide excellent customer service
Other Desirable Experience / Skills
* Experience with environmental monitoring data systems
* Experience using PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online, and R
* Working knowledge of water quality monitoring
Location and Working Conditions
Work location is flexible, but a base at one of our offices across England is required. Hybrid home/office working is offered, with some travel expected for meetings.
Interviews are anticipated via MS Teams towards the end of December/beginning of January. Successful candidates may be offered an apprenticeship.
