Are you a newly qualified solicitor or early in your legal career and looking for a role where you can grow, make an impact, and work with purpose-led brands? We’re looking for a Group Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team at Bettys & Taylors Group — home to Yorkshire Tea, Bettys, and Taylors of Harrogate.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with up to 3 years’ post-qualification experience to develop their legal career in a supportive, values-driven environment. You’ll work closely with our Group General Counsel and wider business teams, helping us navigate legal and regulatory requirements while supporting our commercial goals.
The role will offer hybrid working based from Harrogate (HG2 7DL). Please note that this position is not suitable for fully remote applicants, as regular on-site collaboration in Harrogate is essential. It is anticipated that this role will be full-time for less experienced applicants, but we will consider applications from more experienced applicants who want to work on a part-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
* Data protection compliance, including negotiating DPAs, overseeing DPIAs, responding to data subject requests, maintaining ROPAs and privacy notices, managing personal data breaches and liaising with the ICO.
* Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of B2B and B2C contracts, and advise on contractual risks.
* Maintain and develop contract templates, playbooks, and standard terms.
* Monitor legal developments and assess business impact.
* Support compliance with competition and consumer protection laws.
* Contribute to internal legal training, toolkits, and governance frameworks, including IP.
We’re keen to hear from you if you are
* A qualified solicitor in England and Wales, ideally with 0-3 years’ PQE.
* Experienced in data protection, commercial contracts, and in-house legal work.
* A clear communicator who enjoys building relationships and working collaboratively.
* Proactive, organised, and eager to learn — with a good eye for detail.
* Familiar with (or curious about) the FMCG or retail sector.
