Responsibilities
* Participate in client meetings, project workshops, stakeholder engagement, and design team liaison (both internal and external).
* Contribute to and author planning application deliverables and transport strategies.
* Contribute to various development projects across sectors and clients.
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* The Manchester team will support your technical development and career progression, including internal programs like the Client Confident Programme and professional qualifications (CEng and TPP).
Team Overview
The Manchester Development team handles a diverse range of projects: leisure/sports schemes (e.g., Eden Project Morecambe/Dundee, Aston Villa), town centre regeneration (Hind Street Wirral, Red Bank Victoria North Manchester), logistics (distribution centres, industrial units), energy (HyNet, Port of Tyne), retail (Cheshire Oaks, Bootle Strand), and public transport strategies (Wythenshawe Park, Oldham Town Centre).
Qualifications
* Meet the requirements for an Assistant/Transport Planner grade with a proven record in technical planning work supporting applications and strategies.
* Demonstrate attention to detail and pride in work quality.
* Ability to quickly understand new concepts.
* Work independently with limited supervision on technical tasks.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
* Assist or lead discussions with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
* Share knowledge and mentor others in technical areas.
* Experience preparing traffic data for Transport Assessments and supporting Air Quality and Noise Assessments.
* Experience using junction capacity modelling software (Junctions 10, LinSig), understanding inputs, outputs, and scenario testing.
* Experience preparing Transport Strategies, Assessments, Statements, Travel Plans, and Environmental Impact Assessments.
* Experience in conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals).
