An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trained Nurse Colposcopist to join the Women's Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals to expand the existing Colposcopy team. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality NHS Cervical Screening Programme services.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Nurse with clinical and leadership expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, personalized care to patients.
This is a full-time position with regular evening and occasional weekend work.

Main duties of the job
The jobholder will carry responsibility for a defined caseload, including setting standards of care. They will provide nursing expertise to a specific patient group, contribute to the development of the specialty service, and support the strategic direction of nursing within the Trust. The role involves ensuring cost-effective resource use.
The jobholder will actively manage patients, update and take medical histories, assess patients' cervix/vagina/vulva independently for abnormalities, and perform colposcope-directed biopsies, cervical smears, and vaginal/endocervical swabs. They will independently action treatments for cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions, such as loop diathermy, biopsy, and polypectomy, following review of results.

Purpose/Summary: The jobholder will be responsible for a caseload, setting standards of care, providing expert nursing care, developing patient pathways, and ensuring service quality within QA standards. They may lead a team daily but are not a line manager.
Qualifications: Must have accreditation in Colposcopy with the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) and be able to work autonomously as an expert practitioner.
The role requires reviewing histology/cytology results and developing protocols for patients undergoing colposcopy.
