Do you have a passion for working within the Medicine specialities, using all your specialist skills? Come and be part of our friendly and progressive B6 Medicine Rotation.

Specialist areas include Healthcare of Older People, Medicine-Oncology, and Medicine-Surgery teams across both sites.

You will hold a complex caseload and be involved in the assessment, treatment and creative rehabilitation of patients with complex physical and cognitive needs. You will be part of an OT service helping patients manage their own conditions through education, symptom management and interventions where possible and enable them to be discharged from hospital.

Rotations offer B6 staff exciting opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and experience across wide-ranging specialties including but not exclusive to palliative and long term conditions, neurological and cognitive deficits, surgical and orthopaedic interventions and amputees. Medicine is the perfect speciality to develop and maintain all of your skills.

You will have excellent communication skills, and a wide range of clinical skills and experience. You will have the opportunity to be involved in service development to progress patient care.

We have a strong focus on supporting your career aspirations, discussed in 1:1 supervision. We have excellent leadership development opportunities, including B6 peer supervision sessions and access to our practice development team.

Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details. Role will include, but is not limited to:

* Working as part of multidisciplinary teams on a variety of wards.
* Assessing and treat patients as appropriate in the relevant areas. (i.e. dementia, Parkinsons, amputees, palliative care)
* Being able to provide planned and unplanned care.
* Managing complex discharges including assisting patients to manage their own long term conditions and provide rehabilitation.
* Providing supervision to more junior staff (including Band 5, support and student members of staff) including appraisals, training and placements.
* Deputising for the Band 7 team leader as appropriate.
* Working flexibly - including working rostered weekends/bank holidays.
* Working alongside the Band 7’s and other seniors in the team to develop the service in line with evidence based practice and lead on projects.
* Support development of the rotation through evaluation, joint working and peer support.
* Enhancing your own CPD and Career development
* You will be required to work on weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.

Occupational Therapy is part of the Therapies, Outpatients and Phlebotomy Directorate, within Specialist Clinical Services at NUH. We are a diverse team of AHPs and support staff, employing over 800 staff and working together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists. We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
