As part of the Legal & Secretariat (L&S) team, your focus will be providing pragmatic legal advice while supporting our core values of Innovation, Inspiration, Integrity and Involvement.
You will be adept at drafting and negotiating commercial contracts to reduce legal risk in a dynamic and complex business environment.
You will have superior interpersonal skills to influence and inform your stakeholders, both within the L&S team and wider business.
Key responsibilities
1. Act as a key contact for stakeholders in a range of business units and corporate support departments to help influence and implement business strategy and direction.
2. Act as a primary contact for the UK sales subsidiary providing day‑to‑day advice to sales and marketing colleagues.
3. Review, draft and negotiate high-value, complex commercial contracts with customers, sales intermediaries, suppliers, service providers and other key business partners.
4. Support the business with responses to tenders and customer queries.
5. Support on L&S change and process improvement projects that underpin the business’s key objectives across multiple disciplines.
6. Support operational and commercial functions with day-to-day legal queries and issues.
7. Work with product development teams to ensure compliance with commercial and IP frameworks.
8. Assist in maintaining the L&S team’s templates, precedents and other know-how materials.
9. Provide practical solutions to complex legal problems as a key business partner.
10. Procure and manage external specialist counsel (as required).
11. Support senior lawyers as required, both in the UK and internationally.
12. Contribute to the growth of the L&S team by sharing knowledge, delivering training, mentoring more junior colleagues and supporting the onboarding of new colleagues.
13. Conduct legal research as necessary.
Key requirements
14. Qualified solicitor (England and Wales) with 2 - 5 years PQE and experience in delivering pragmatic, commercial legal advice in a demanding private practice or in-house environment.
15. Excellent technical knowledge of commercial law and drafting skills.
16. Superior analytical skills and a creative, flexible approach to problem solving.
17. An ability to interact with people at all levels in the business.
18. Impeccable integrity and a willingness and ability to lead by example.
19. Strong attention to detail and a “can do” attitude.
20. An appetite to learn continually and share your experience and knowledge.
