The post is a job share amounting to 21.5 hours per week Wednesday to Friday.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced secretary to join the Chemical Pathology Department. This post covers a range of administrative tasks to maintain a prompt and accurate secretarial service. You will be working closely with the Lead Chemical Pathologist and her team.
You must have the ability to produce efficient and accurate typing and will therefore have previous secretarial experience. You will have excellent keyboard and audio typing skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be required to use the WPAS and Clinical Work Station (CWS) to organise and book patients into clinics for which you will receive training.
Main duties of the job
The ability to prioritise your work and be highly organised is paramount to this post as is excellent interpersonal communication skills, which includes a friendly telephone manner, whilst also providing a professional, sensitive manner and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Keyboard skills to RSA III or equivalent secretarial experience
* Maths and English GCSE
* Computer literate with good understanding of software programmes
* Basic knowledge of medical terminology
* Knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures and systems
* Knowledge of using CWS
* WelshPAS trained
Experience
* Experience of working in an administration or secretarial post
* Management of Waiting Lists
Aptitude and Abilities
* Possess excellent communication/telephone skills
* Ability to work with staff at all level
