The Hiveability session specifically caters to young people with additional needs, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Candidate Key Attributes:
As a candidate you will be a passionate and dedicated individual with a wish to join our team of youth workers and volunteers for the Hiveability session on Sunday mornings. As a volunteer, you would play a crucial role in providing support, guidance, and mentorship to young people with additional needs, creating a positive and inclusive environment where they can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engagement and Support:
· Interact and engage with young people aged 8 to 25 with additional needs.
· Provide emotional support and encouragement to foster a positive atmosphere.
· Assist in creating a safe and inclusive space for all young people.
2. Activity Facilitation:
· Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to plan and execute age-appropriate activities.
· Adapt activities to accommodate the diverse needs and abilities of young people.
· Encourage young people and create an enjoyable experience for all attendees.
3. Communication and Collaboration:
· Communicate effectively with young people, fellow volunteers and staff.
· Collaborate with the session lead to ensure smooth session operations.
· Share feedback and insights to enhance the overall quality of the Hiveability session.
4. Promote Inclusion and Diversity:
· Embrace and celebrate the diversity of our young members.
· Foster an environment that promotes respect, understanding and acceptance.
Qualifications:
· Genuine interest in working with young people with additional needs.
· Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
· Willingness to undergo any necessary training provided by The Hive Youth Zone.
