Senior BMS (Band 7), Pathology Department, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
37 hours per week, Pathology Department Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within the Pathology laboratory for a Senior Biomedical Scientist. Registration with the Health Care Professions Council is essential. MSc in Biomedical Science or demonstrable equivalent experience is desirable. Extensive specialist knowledge and at least 5 years’ experience in a diagnostic Histopathology laboratory is also essential.
The laboratory is responsible for providing a diagnostic service to NHS Grampian, NHS Orkney and NHS Shetland and includes Histology, Cytology and Immunocytochemistry.
The post holder will
1. Organise, supervise and assist in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory
2. Cover for more senior staff in their absence
3. Be involved in the production of the SOP’s and safety assessments
4. Be involved in training new BMS staff, and undergraduate placement students.
