Description
Co-ordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including delivery of high quality teaching, responsibility for day-to-day operational issues, exams, and timetabling, ensuring a consistent approach across sites if required. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching and learning that challenges students to excel.
Lecturers should be passionate about their teaching area and enthusiastic about developing students' English, Maths, and employability skills. Regular target setting and progress monitoring will underpin this to ensure successful outcomes for all students.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following indicates the main priorities as directed by senior management, not an exhaustive list:
* Deliver high-quality teaching according to College standards, prepare teaching materials, develop curricula, undertake quality assurance, assess student work, monitor progress, and maintain statutory compliance including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
* Manage course operations including communication, problem-solving, timetable adjustments, arranging cover, coordinating work experience and enrichment activities, liaising with departments, and administrative tasks to ensure cross-site consistency.
* Assist with recruitment, manage enrolments, and organize induction programs to ensure correct course placement for students.
* Conduct student meetings, set and review SMART targets, support UCAS applications, and address pastoral and academic needs, liaising with college services as needed.
* Monitor attendance and results, report on performance, and implement action plans to improve retention and achievement.
* Promote English and Maths support, monitor attendance, and facilitate student movement to these lessons.
* Participate in meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, and other college activities, including planning and coordinating parent consultations.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop courses and materials, participate in CPD, and mentor new lecturers.
* Handle departmental administration tasks such as attendance marking, report generation, and updating the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
* Engage in quality assurance activities including verification, moderation, and self-assessment reviews.
Lecturers on SPS points 5–8 will additionally:
* Perform internal verification, moderation, and standardisation for curriculum/course(s).
* Monitor and implement SAR, observation, and review action plans.
* Assist with resource and staffing management.
* Support curriculum and quality initiatives.
* Ensure timely UCAS references and liaise with Higher Education Institutions.
