CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
SALARY: £36,000 per annum
BENEFITS: Westfield Health, EAP, KPI Related Bonus, 25 days holiday

A vacancy has arisen for a Bid Writer to join our Business Development Team at Head Office in Barnsley.

Hargreaves Industrial Services Ltd are a quality assured contracting company delivering EPC turnkey projects, framework contracts and term service operation and maintenance contracts across a wide range of industrial markets in the UK.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

1. Ensuring compliance with internal tendering and contract award process and procedure.
2. Understanding Public Procurement Regulations
3. Familiarity with framework procurements, open/restricted procedures and competitive dialogue
4. Ability to produce clear, tailored, persuasive responses that answer technical questions, method statements, quality / innovation criteria and social value requirements.
5. Adapting content to strict word counts, character limits and structured response formats.
6. Applying win themes and value propositions across answers
7. Ensuring full compliance with tender instructions.
8. Managing document controls and versioning.
9. Gathering data, case studies, KPIs, policies, and operational inputs.
10. Turning raw information into high‑scoring narrative.
11. Managing multiple tenders simultaneously
12. Writing answers that directly target scoring matrices and evaluation criteria
13. Understanding contractual risks, TUPE implications, mobilisation risks, and operational constraints.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-

14. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in bid writing, able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of preparing scored tender responses and achievement of high scores which ultimately led to winning bids.
15. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in public procurement sector, especially for contracting with Local Authorities and major infrastructure projects.
16. Professional attitude and excellent communicator with the ability to communicate with all appropriate stakeholders as necessary.
17. A high attention to detail with an excellent editing and proofing ability
18. Excellent literacy skills, with an extensive vocabulary
19. Deadline driven with effective time management skills
20. Thrive in a busy environment
21. Ability to multitask and prioritise workload
22. Strong competence in Microsoft Office suite and other appropriate software
