What we are recruiting for
We are hiring a Commercial Manager (Quantity Surveyor) for our regional construction team, focusing on public sector projects. Projects are in preconstruction, starting on site late 2025. Initially, the role will be based in Leicester, moving to the site as the project progresses.
* Procure projects according to approved strategies, ensuring accurate scope, best value, and proper contracting.
* Prepare and manage contracts for Early Works and Surveys.
* Manage supply chain relationships at the package level.
* Implement and manage commercial, legal, insurance, and risk controls.
* Provide accurate commercial reporting and contract administration, including interim payments, change management, cashflows, and final accounts.
* Ensure project delivery is safe, timely, efficient, sustainable, and meets client expectations.
* Produce Tender Recommendation Reports and Contract Sum Analyses.
* Prepare subcontracts for execution.
* Maintain detailed cost forecasts and intervene when negative trends are identified.
* Report on monthly forecasts and final accounts.
* Manage project cash flow and support risk and opportunity management.
* Handle change processes per contract.
* Prepare bid documentation for tenders.
Experience & Background
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
* Working towards or holding RICS or CIOB qualifications.
* Experience with reputable main contractors as a commercial manager or quantity surveyor.
* Experience tendering medium to high-value subcontract packages.
* Ability to prepare subcontract documentation.
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, and cost management software.
* Understanding of building technology and construction methods.
* Ability to read drawings and design info.
* Experience valuing interim applications and managing changes.
* Preparation of monthly cost reports and forecasts.
* Knowledge of measurement, valuation, and NEC4 contracts.
