Randstad Sourceright is seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant/VAT Support to work on behalf of Mars.
This critical role involves supporting the accurate and timely preparation and submission of VAT returns for Mars' UK and Irish VAT registered businesses. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to ensure all VAT returns are complete, correct, and meet strict filing deadlines with tax authorities. A key responsibility is to resolve VAT issues identified during the preparation process by working with the responsible business processing function and supporting future process improvements to prevent recurrence of errors.
Key Responsibilities:

Data Validation and Compliance: Review and validate supporting data for unit VAT returns, including analysing supplier invoice data, reviewing VAT reports for discrepancies, and collaborating with the VAT team to ensure VAT treatment complies with legal requirements.

Query Resolution and Training: Follow up on queries to ensure business units understand the VAT implications of transactions and that the VAT element is correctly reported.

Error Management and Documentation: Complete VAT error tracking records and ensure business unit training materials are updated for VAT team business operations training sessions.

Return Preparation: Support the preparation, submission, and settlement of VAT returns for Mars’ other VAT registered businesses in the UK and Ireland.

Import Data Review: Conduct reviews of VAT data from Customs imports to ensure correct VAT reporting of imports.

Support and Training: Provide training and technical support to the outsourced Invoice to Pay Processing team responsible for accounting for transactions with VAT implications.
Required Experience and Skills:
Working under the supervision of the UK & I VAT Manager, the role requires the ability to review, analyse, and advise on discrepancies within transactional information used for VAT return preparation, adhering to strict deadlines to ensure all VAT reporting is completed on time.
