Offer description

Summary

Be part of a team who are enthusiastic about engaging with people and delivering excellent customer service. You'll share the stories of our properties and help our visitors have the best experiences. You'll create a great first and last impression as part of the Welcome Team. This is a varied role where no two days are the same.

Salary: £9,945 (£12.75 an hour)

Duration: Permanent

Hours: 780 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. You’ll be required to work weekend days and bank holidays on a rota basis.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to our Welcome Manager you'll be joining our friendly Welcome team of 6 people and working alongside our wonderful volunteer team. A typical day might include welcoming visitors, telling them about the site, fundraising and talking about supporting the National Trust.

You'll be based at Gibside but you may occasionally be required to help across the Derwent, Wear & Coast portfolio when needed. This includes Crook Hall & Gardens, Souter Lighthouse and Washington Old Hall.

What you'll be doing

As the largest conservation charity in Europe, we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Team Member, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.

You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. You’ll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do. An essential aspect of the role is helping supporters understand the benefits of National Trust membership and contributing to our fundraising goals.

You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property and ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

We'd love to hear from you if you are:
