Overview The Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH) is looking for a Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Strategy and Workforce to join the Chief Medical Officer team. This role will lead on clinical strategy and workforce matters, working closely with senior nursing and leadership staff to ensure the Trust has sufficient resources across all services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership on the Clinical Strategy and all medical and dental workforce issues through professional assurance, leadership development, workforce planning and productivity.
Work closely with the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurses and Divisional Leadership Teams, supported by Associate Chief Medical Officer roles, to secure adequate resources for the CMO portfolio.
Lead on medical workforce planning, including the development of electronic job planning, consultant induction and health inequalities, and improve medical staff engagement across the Trust.
Contribute to the creation of medical leadership development programmes.
Support the delivery of the Trust’s strategic goals, focusing on clinical outcomes, patient safety, medical standards, patient experience, efficiency and effectiveness.
Align and engage medical staff in delivering efficient, high‑quality, safe and compassionate care to patients in all services.
Qualifications
Considerable experience in medical management with a demonstrable track record of clinical leadership in an acute setting or complex healthcare organisation.
Proven ability to develop and implement workforce plans, staff induction programmes and leader development initiatives.
Strong strategic thinking, leadership and communication skills.
Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion within a healthcare setting.
