About the Job
The Student Designer & Event Coordinator will design and create 30 physical trophies for Arts Awards 2026. They will also support the Arts SU with other design elements for the awards ceremony in May, including the event decorations and visuals.
The trophies will recognise and award the outstanding contributions that students and staff have made to the overall experience at UAL. In terms of the trophy design, it should be an object which can fit on a desk unobtrusively, is easily transportable, light enough to be held comfortably, and made to last. It should not use media that can decompose. The person in this role will also support the Arts SU team to coordinate visuals and decorations for the event, including stage and table decorations.

This is a fixed term role of 5 months .
Who we are looking for
You will be a current student at University of Arts London, in any year of your foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate course.
You will be a skilled and imaginative designer and maker who is looking to enhance their professional practice. You will also be somebody who is organized, diligent and can demonstrate attention to detail with general administrative and coordination duties.
We are looking for somebody who can contribute the following skills and knowledge - for up to approximately 8 hours per week .
- Has excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software.
- Has strong design skills (e.g. 2D sketches and 3D digital designs) and can readily incorporate feedback into their designs.
- Has the knowledge and ability to use relevant equipment and tools to take their idea from concept to reality to create 30 physical trophies.
- Has knowledge of a wide range of design materials, inc: sustainable materials.
- Has the ability to research, source and budget for design materials.
- Will maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of receipts for all materials purchased.
- Has excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
- Will work alongside the Arts SU team as needed to create a plan for decoration of the stage, reception areas, and tables for the Arts Awards event.
- Will work alongside the Arts SU team on the day of the Arts Award ceremony to set-up the space, coordinate the event and close-down the space.
- Understands the importance of delivering work to agreed brief and timescales.
- Understands the importance of collaboration and teamwork.
- Understands the importance of equality and diversity, and the relevance of students’ and staff experience.
