Job Summary
The General Pharmacy at Royal Cornwall Hospital is looking to recruit a skilled pharmacy assistant within the dispensary and supply services to ensure our patients receive the right medicines at the right time. This is a key role in our departmental strategy to focus on patient care and experience, offering an exciting development opportunity for the right candidate who holds an NVQ2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services.
Main duties of the job
* Dispensary
o Dispense for in‑patients, out‑patients and patient discharge.
o Ensure accuracy during all stages of the dispensing process.
o Maintain records and controls using the pharmacy computer system and paper records, following the Pharmacy Archive procedure.
o Relabel patients’ own drugs for reuse after suitability assessment.
o Handle reception duties, dealing with patient and NHS staff enquiries face‑to‑face or by telephone.
o Perform all activities in accordance with training and departmental SOP.
o Conduct controlled drug audits.
* Supermarket
o Assist with top‑up and stock supplies to wards, clinical departments and community clinics.
o Provide training to other staff.
o Follow training and departmental SOP.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications:
* NVQ 2 or equivalent in pharmacy services
* Good general education

Essential practical and intellectual skills:
