The Vacancy
As a Technical Documentation Engineer (within the Manufacturing Engineering Team) based at the High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) in Ansty, you will conduct research and improvement activities related to the design and manufacture of turbine components. The HTRC is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for investment casting, machining, and advanced metrology of single crystal components.
The Centre has three key aims:
* Design & make of turbine components for engine development projects
* Develop novel design and manufacturing techniques to enable future design styles and manufacturing technologies
* Accelerate cost reduction and casting/machining yield improvement activities for turbine components
You will work within our co-located design and manufacturing engineering teams at the HTRC and collaborate with researchers from relevant academic fields.
Manufacturing engineers support the method of manufacture that delivers component requirements and assist in process engineering and project delivery. They may focus on specific processes or projects but are expected to support both functions.
Key Responsibilities
* Technical writing support including generation and updating of Technical Instructions, Training Packs, Engineering Work Instructions, and Equipment Blue Folder documentation
* Conducting trials at HTRC in collaboration with Process and Project teams, following established trial processes
Candidate Requirements
* Degree qualified or equivalent technical experience
* Strong understanding of manufacturing and component engineering principles
* Knowledge of turbine components and processes like investment casting and machining (preferred)
* Skills in problem solving, programme management, change control, risk management, and budgeting
* High attention to detail for technical documentation
* Experience in research environments and manufacturing process development is advantageous
Additional Experience
Experience with inspection requirements, non-conformance resolution, manufacturing capability development, equipment capability, and process stability is valued.
