Job Description
Supporting the team that oversees the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors is vital to the success of our projects. You will help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements, delivering value for money and societal benefit.
The Commercial Assurance and Framework Management Team provides country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams, championing effective governance and commercial assurance. You will develop excellent internal and external relationships and become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations within a high‑performing team.
Responsibilities
* Oversee commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice.
* Develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements to deliver for the Agency and society.
* Provide country‑wide commercial governance support to Integrated Delivery Management and Project Management teams.
* Build excellent internal and external relationships and become an expert on commercial interpretation.
* Undertake training and participate in incident response duties when required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential education/skills/behaviours: A‑Level or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal/ influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks, make informed decisions and deliver the most advantageous solution.
* Administration skills – strong organisational skills, ability to write minutes and draft reports.
* Willingness to shadow, undertake long‑term professional qualifications (e.g. NEC training, CIPS) and ask questions to drive development.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
* Desired: Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
* Working towards status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
* Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).

Working Conditions
The role can be fulfilled via hybrid working. Some travel across the country is required with occasional overnight stays.
