We are currently working with a newly launched Accounting-as-a-Service business seeking an experienced Outsourced Accounting Manager to join its newly launched practice supporting start-up and scale-up businesses.
Backed by a £20m revenue group the business is launching in June 2026 with ambitious client growth plans already in place. This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage and play a key role in shaping processes, client delivery standards, and the future direction of the practice.
Reporting into the Practice Director, this position offers significant scope for progression and the chance to make a genuine impact within a modern, technology-driven accounting environment.

The Opportunity
This is a senior-level role suited to an experienced Practice Manager, Client Manager, or Senior Practice Accountant with a strong background in UK accounting practice.
You will take ownership of the review and delivery of accounting and tax services across a substantial SME client portfolio, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency within a high-volume, tech-enabled operating model.
The role combines technical leadership, client management, process improvement, and team oversight, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working in fast-paced, growth-focused environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and approve statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, and VAT returns prepared by the outsourced delivery team
* Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards including FRS 102 and FRS 105
* Act as the senior escalation point for accounting and tax-related client queries
* Manage a large and growing portfolio of SME clients across a range of sectors
* Oversee and quality-assure bookkeeping and accounts production work
* Support the development of scalable review processes, documentation, and internal knowledge resources
* Collaborate closely with operations and client service teams to improve efficiency and client experience
* Mentor and support junior team members where required
* Keep up to date with UK accounting standards, HMRC guidance, and legislative changes
About You
* ACA or ACCA qualified (essential)
* Significant experience within UK-based accounting practice environments
* Background within a recognised accounting firm at Manager or Senior Manager level
* Exposure across both larger firms and smaller/mid-sized practices preferred
* Strong experience managing sizeable SME client portfolios
* Excellent technical knowledge across corporation tax, personal tax, VAT, and UK GAAP
* Confident reviewing work accurately and efficiently within a high-volume environment
* Proficient with Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
* Commercially minded with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
