We are currently partnering with a housing association based in London, who are recruiting for a Head of Legal to join them during an exciting period of change.
This is a full-time position with a salary of £98,000 and they are able to wait for candidates.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a new legal strategy for them, leading and managing the legal team to ensure key objectives are achieved.
* Review the overall structure of the service and scope of works delivered in house, creating a business case for investment and plan for the development of the service.
* Provide expert legal advice for the operational teams and the executive team on a range of legal matters and provide advice and training to operational colleagues.
* Oversight of cases where legal action is required, ensuring they are effectively managed to conclusion, minimising risks to the business and maintaining a customer focus and understanding through the process.
* Working with other senior leaders across the business to provide support and hold them accountable for meeting legal requirements.
Skills and experience required
* Experience as a senior in‑house lawyer within a housing association or local authority.
* Up to date knowledge of housing law and legislation, including disrepair, possession actions, anti‑social behaviour and tenancy enforcement.
* Qualified solicitor, barrister or lawyer with significant post‑qualification experience.
