Overview

Note: this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who receives direct payments.

I am a young boy living in Morriston with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I am non-verbal, highly self-directed, and have significant learning needs. I enjoy trampolining, sensory activities, watching YouTube, eating and looking around stores. I would need a fast PA as I have no sense of danger and may try and run away from the PA. I love to giggle with sensory stimulation. My behaviour can be challenging. You will be working with another PA as I will need two PAs working together.


Requirements

* Driver required.


Hours of work

After school or weekends

7 hours for 2 PAs for school term

10 hours for 2 PAs for school holidays


Rate of pay

£12.75


Responsibilities

* Ensure I am safe at all times.
* Supervise me to make sure I do not run off.
* Accompany me to my chosen activities.
* Accompany me to watch YouTube.

* Someone who is adaptable and flexible is essential.
* Someone who could provide extra hours on occasions.
* Someone who will be able to support me but not take over.
* Able to work independently and on their own initiative to previously agreed criteria.
* Someone who is able to work to instruction.
* Someone trustworthy, reliable and punctual.
* Someone with a caring and responsible attitude.
* Be willing to undertake any training identified as relating to the post, e.g., Manual Handling Course, Basic First Aid.


Concerning the position

You will be formally employed by the Direct Payment Client, which requires a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS must be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where the applicant is eligible.
