The Role
We are seeking a Head of Water Safety to lead Anchor’s Water Safety Programme as the Legionella Responsible Person. Reporting to the Director of Resident & Building Safety, you will ensure compliance with ACOP L8, HSG 274, and other regulations, overseeing Legionella control, sewage waste, and radon management while embedding a compliance-first and customer-first culture.
This role involves policy development, contractor management, and resident engagement to deliver high-quality, safe water safety services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Act as the Legionella Responsible Person, providing expertise in water hygiene, sewage waste, and radon mitigation.
2. Develop and implement water safety policies, including Legionella risk assessments and remedial works.
3. Commission and manage contracts for water safety, sewage, and radon services, ensuring compliance and value for money.
4. Develop and deliver training programmes on water safety for colleagues and contractors.
5. Lead incident management for Legionella outbreaks or water contamination, liaising with Public Health England and HSE.
6. Manage budgets, monitor KPIs, and ensure customer satisfaction through transparent resident communication.
7. Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
About You
You are an experienced leader with expertise in water safety compliance. You bring:
8. Deep knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG 274, COSHH, and water hygiene legislation, with experience in radon and sewage management.
9. Senior leadership experience in Legionella and water hygiene compliance, including contractor procurement.
10. Strong leadership, communication, and risk management skills, with the ability to conduct site inspections and incident investigations.
11. Legionella RP/ACOP L8 Training (P901/P904) or substantial experience with a commitment to achieve qualifications.
12. A Housing Management Qualification (CIH Level 4 or above) or willingness to work towards it, and a full, clean UK driving licence.
