My client is recruiting for a Complex Crime Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join their Manchester team.
The successful candidate will assist Solicitors and Advocates in preparing cases for court. There is also the potential for the successful candidate to be considered for a training contract.
The firm has over 15 national offices with more than 250 staff members.
Roles And Responsibilities
* Assist Advocates throughout all stages of case preparation;
* Manage a caseload of files under the supervision of Solicitors and Advocates, including drafting letters, taking client instructions, preparing statements, applications, and legal documents;
* Accurately record time spent on work using the case management system;
* Ensure files meet standards in accordance with the Office Manual and Lexcel standards;
* Provide high-quality customer service;
* Undertake legal research and instruct experts as needed;
* Participate in continuing professional development activities (if applicable).
Person Specification
* Police Station Accreditation is highly desirable but not essential;
* Experience working within a criminal solicitors' office or barristers’ chambers;
* Experience handling own caseload of criminal and complex crime cases;
* A legal qualification such as LPC, BAR, or CILEX is desirable but not essential; a Training Contract may be available for the right candidate;
* Excellent written and spoken English communication skills;
* Understanding of client care and commitment to legal aid;
* IT literate and willing to learn.
