The Quality Auditor (Clinical) will provide high-quality, patient-centred quality assurance and clinical audit based on Trust policies and procedures, as well as the standards set by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED). The role involves completing clinical audits using relevant software, providing feedback, and supporting teams within the Integrated Care and control centre environments to practice safely and effectively. The Quality Auditor (Clinical) will also be responsible for generating IAED quality assurance reports and ensuring compliance with Trust and IAED standards included Accredited Centre of Excellence.

The post holder will also be responsible for the prompt completion of investigations into concerns, coroners, serious incidents and other ad-hoc requests e.g. clinical negligence and freedom of information, which will include planning, progressing, and completing investigations and assigned actions. The post holder will be required to meet with patients, carers, relatives, and other stakeholders where required to support the investigation progress.

The post holder will be required to lead early resolution concerns/complaints where appropriate and support the identification, collation and delivery of learning identified during investigations, working closely with the Quality, Safety and Patient Experience (QSPE) Directorate and Integrated Care.


Main duties of the job

* Undertake complex audits and investigations independently.
* Provide expert feedback and mentorship.
* Lead on and support quality improvement initiatives within Operations Quality and Integrated Care.
* Initiate and implement new ways of working through identifying areas of improvement whilst carrying out audits for concerns, complaints, and investigations.
* Act as a specialist resource for audit and clinical governance.
* Ensure WAST clinicians meet both internal and external accreditation standards e.g. International Academies of Emergency Dispatch.
* Accountable for supporting the performance and professional development of clinicians through coaching and formal feedback, contributing directly to service improvement and patient safety.
* Undertake routine and ad hoc audits of Integrated Care clinicians using the Emergency Communication Nurse System (ECNS), assessing compliance with agreed clinical pathways and protocols.
* Identify good practice and areas for improvement, ensuring audits are conducted objectively and in line with ECNS standards.

Qualifications and Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent practice experience within a clinical education environment.
* Registered nurse or paramedic (NMC/HPCP).
* Evidence of post registration education & training in remote clinical telephone assessment.
* Experience of carrying out audit in the remote clinical telephone assessment environment.
* Experience of mentoring individuals or teams.


Desirable criteria

* Management or supervisory qualification.
* Mentoring qualification.


Experience


Essential criteria

* Post-registration clinical experience relevant to the role, such as experience working in a remote clinical telephone assessment environment.
* Experience as a Paramedic or Nurse working in an acute setting such as prehospital, emergency department, acute wards, or primary care.
* Experience of delivering learning.
* Experience in clinical supervision/preceptorship/mentorship
* Specialist experience in remote clinical telephone triage systems (e.g. ECNS, Manchester Triage System (MTS), Pathways) to give expert advice, training, and support to Integrated Care clinicians.
* Evidence of a proactive approach to own CPD and development of professional practice.


Desirable criteria

* Experience of undertaking investigations into concerns/complaints.
