Overview
The Digital Technician will provide hands‑on support to digital tools, technologies, and ways of working used across engineering and project environments. This role is designed for someone at the start of their digital career, offering structured on‑the‑job learning, mentoring, and increasing responsibility as capability grows. The role contributes to enabling safe, efficient, and collaborative delivery through the effective use of digital solutions.
Digital Support & Operations
* Support the setup, operation, and day‑to‑day running of digital tools and environments (e.g. collaboration spaces, digital platforms, and emerging technologies).
* Assist with basic troubleshooting of hardware, software, and digital systems, escalating issues when required.
* Ensure digital equipment, spaces, and systems are prepared, maintained, and used correctly.
Data & Information Handling
* Assist with capturing, storing, and organising digital information in line with agreed standards.
* Support basic data quality checks and version control.
* Follow data protection, information security, and governance requirements at all times.
Project & Team Support
* Provide digital support to project teams, engineers, and other stakeholders as required.
* Assist with preparing digital materials, demonstrations, or collaboration sessions.
* Communicate clearly with colleagues to understand digital needs and support requests.
Learning & Development
* Actively engage in structured learning and development activities aligned to the role.
* Build foundational knowledge of digital engineering tools, data, and processes.
* Apply learning directly within the role, demonstrating continuous improvement over time.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Work in accordance with health, safety, security, and quality requirements.
* Report hazards, incidents, or system issues appropriately.
* Promote safe and responsible use of digital technologies.
Essential
* Interest in digital technology, IT, or data‑enabled ways of working.
* Basic IT literacy (e.g. Windows, Microsoft 365, file management).
* Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
* Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach.
* Organised, reliable, and able to manage time effectively.
* Comfortable working in an office or technical environment.
Desirable
* Exposure to digital tools, data, or technology through education, hobbies, or work experience.

Security clearance
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for five years or longer.
