The Role
Are you an experienced leader with a strong background in high-volume laboratory operations? We are looking for a Chemistry Operations Manager to join our team and drive operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards. Days Per Week:Monday to Friday
Contract:Full Time and Permanent
Location:Coventry
The day to day
* Ensure the department operates within UK health & safety legislation, fostering a culture of workplace safety.
* Maintain the company’s quality system to provide legally defensible results, ensuring ongoing compliance with internal and external auditing schemes.
* Drive capacity and process improvements to optimise laboratory efficiency.
* Manage departmental direct and indirect costs to meet revenue and profit targets.
* Monitor key client KPI performance, ensuring analysis quality meets client requirements.
* Support Business Development teams with technical expertise.
* Operate compliance with workplace regulations and procedures.
* Develop and maintain the technical capabilities of the department to support client and business needs.
* Deputise for the Site Operations Manager when necessary.
* Conduct Site Inductions on a rotational basis.
* Participate in the Site Duty Manager rota.

The Essentials
* Extensive experience in high-volume production laboratory operations and ISO 17025 quality systems.
* Strong background in MCERTS, 14001, and 45001 accreditation frameworks.
* HND/HNC/Degree or equivalent in a relevant science subject.
* Minimum of 10 years’ management experience in a related field.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Proven ability to influence, motivate, and develop staff.
* Experience in process optimisation, cost reduction, and budget planning.
* Strong analytical skills to evaluate scientific and operational data.
* Strong project management skills.
* Commitment to working towards Chartered status.
