We’re working with a warm, community-driven primary school in BS16 that’s been at the heart of its local area for over 50 years. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows each other, pupils feel safe and supported, and learning goes far beyond the classroom.
What’s the role?
You’ll be supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and feel part of everything the school offers.
This isn’t just about sitting beside a desk. It’s about:
* Creating a calm, consistent presence throughout the day
* Adapting activities so learning feels achievable and engaging
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans
* Celebrating the small wins, because they matter just as much as the big ones
Why this school?
This school does things properly. Inclusion isn’t a buzzword here, it’s built into everything they do.
* A genuinely inclusive environment where every child is supported to succeed
* A strong focus on creativity, curiosity, and communication across the curriculum
* A close-knit, family feel where staff look out for each other as much as the pupils
* A belief that education should support children academically, emotionally, and socially
You’ll be part of a team that plans carefully around individual needs, adapting lessons and support so every pupil can thrive.
What we’re looking for
* Experience supporting children with SEND, or a strong desire to move into this area
* A calm, patient approach, especially in moments that need a steady hand
* Someone who builds trust naturally and isn’t afraid to get stuck in
* A team player who communicates well with staff and parents
If you’ve worked with autism, SEMH, or communication needs, even better, but what really matters is your attitude and care.
The details
* Part-time role
* Based in BS16 (Downend area)
* 1:1 SEN support
* Ongoing opportunity with potential to extend
