The post holder will provide support to the Trust's Voluntary Service in two key ways:
Firstly, the post-holder will be a main point of contact for volunteers, ensuring they are supported and develop the necessary skills and confidence to engage effectively with patients, families / carers, staff and visitors.
Secondly, the post-holder will provide a key role in supporting the administration of Voluntary Services including the recruitment process, such as data gathering on volunteering activity and recording information for analysis (using databases and Microsoft Office packages).
The post-holder will mentor and support volunteers predominantly in patient facing areas to feel confident with a range of tasks they could undertake to improve patients’ experiences. These tasks could include meeting and greeting patients in reception/clinic areas, various roles supporting patients under the age of 18 years, befriending patients on adult wards, including those with dementia, and helping with mealtimes.
The post-holder will be expected to use their own initiative and to work as part of a team to fulfil the requirements of the post, which include a number of responsibilities shared with the Voluntary Services Coordinator.
