Nisbets Limited are currently recruiting for a Night Shift Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team and play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our automated equipment across our Avonmouth site.
This role is based at our Avonmouth Distribution Centre, working permanent night shifts, with responsibility for supporting the smooth and efficient running of a modern automated operation.
The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults at pace, and support ongoing improvement activity across a range of advanced systems including conveyors, AMR robots, and carton‑handling equipment. This is a hands‑on, highly collaborative role working closely with Operational, Engineering, and Automation teams to maximise uptime, maintain compliance, and enhance overall site performance.
You will take a proactive approach to maintaining equipment, completing risk assessments, keeping accurate records, and ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and in line with regulatory standards. Key Accountabilities
Conduct planned preventative and reactive maintenance on automated equipment across the site.
Diagnose and resolve equipment faults quickly to minimise downtime and maintain operational flow.
Support continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and system performance.
Work collaboratively with operational teams to maximise automation availability and reduce production impact.
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and ensure all systems meet compliance standards.
Complete thorough risk assessments, following safe working practices at all times.
Develop new skills and gain hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge automated technologies.
Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required
Proven experience in a multi‑skilled maintenance engineering role.
Strong understanding of automation systems, including fault finding and troubleshooting.
Experience delivering PPM and reactive maintenance in a fast‑paced environment.
Relevant qualifications such as ONC, NVQ Level 3, MS Elec, or equivalent (apprenticeship desirable).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach when required.
Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safe working.
Good IT capability, including Microsoft Excel and general office applications.
Experience using a CMMS system beneficial but not essential.
Driving licence required.
