We have an exciting Specialist Teaching Assistant position to start in September. The role is to work in a SEND school in the Kendal area.
We are looking for consistent and supportive TAs to work in small class groups supporting the teacher in delivering tailored lessons which are creative and dynamic. The role requires people who are flexible, communicative and caring. We will consider people with previous TA experience and also people from other industries who are passionate about helping young people with SEND. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant you could be working with pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, physical disabilities and learning disabilities.
The role:
* You will be working with a team of TAs assisting pupils during lessons and group sessions.
* To work 1:1 and also in small groups with pupils.
* You may be expected to fill in pupils' learning journals and document reading and development milestones.
* The role could be supporting in other sessions such as Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Speech and Language sessions, Hydro therapy.
* The role could require the use of alternative communication techniques such as Makaton, PECs (pictorial exchange communication system) which can be learnt on the role.
* Assisting with lunch times and break times when required.
* Supporting in soft play and sensory play sessions.
* Practising and implementing positive behaviour management methods.
* To create a safe learning environment for the pupils and keeping safeguarding as a priority.
The ideal Applicant:
* Will be kind and caring.
* Is a great team player to work with a large team of TAs.
* Is a great communicator and willing to create strong relationships with pupils and staff.
* Has positive energy to bring positivity to the classroom.
* Has previous experience as a TA is desirable but not essential.

As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
