Main duties of the job
Victoria ward is a 27 bedded Acute Medicine ward where we provide safe, compassionate, and comprehensive care for our patients using integrated team approach.
You will have the opportunity to link with all stakeholders both within and external to the organisation, which will be crucial to delivering excellent patient focused care and experience on Victoria and support the Acute Medicine Services.
Provide clinical leadership and clinical management of the service 24 hours 7 days a week and continuously monitor and maintain clinical standards and quality care. Monitor effectiveness of protocols and patient triage requirements and escalate level of care for acutely ill patients where necessary.

Responsibilities include leading the nursing team clinically and providing direction.
- Conducting comprehensive, systematic, and precise nursing assessments of patients as needed.- Ensuring a high standard of nursing care that adheres to best practices for patient safety and experience.- Creating and using opportunities to enhance the health and well-being of patients.- Working clinical shifts as required.- Operating within NMC Guidelines and Trust Policies, acknowledging personal capabilities and limitations.- Encouraging teamwork among nurses and the multidisciplinary team to maintain high care standards.- Engaging in clinical audits to monitor and elevate care quality.- Maintaining effective communication with the multidisciplinary team while respecting patient and relative confidentiality.- Participating in all aspects of direct patient care, including hydration, nutrition, continence, pressure area care, and injury prevention.- Completing all trust documentation related to patient care and departmental safety to a high standard.- Executing treatments, investigations, diagnostics, and referrals according to patient care plans.- Practicing in accordance with NMC Guidelines and Trust Policies, recognizing personal strengths and weaknesses.- Fostering positive relationships within the nursing teams and offering appropriate advice and support.- Instructing, mentoring, and supervising students and junior staff to ensure competence.- Promptly responding to deteriorating patients and supporting junior staff in such situations.
