Job Purpose
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Systems Analyst to join the Highways and Environmental Services team, supporting the Service Improvement and Fleet division. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and optimising systems, processes, and functions within Fleet Services, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. This role is central to driving process improvement, system optimisation, and effective reporting across the service.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct in-depth operational and system reviews of Fleet Services processes.
* Produce "as-is" business process maps, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
* Collaborate with the Head of Service and senior managers to produce reports for senior leadership.
* Assist in the integration, testing, and quality assurance of Fleet Focus and other related systems.
* Liaise with software suppliers to resolve issues, support upgrades, and maintain user documentation.
* Analyse requirements for management information reporting and make recommendations for improvements.
* Provide support and lead investigations into complex system incidents.
* Deliver informal training and guidance to staff as needed.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and service development initiatives.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* HND in a computer-related discipline, or graduate in a numerate subject – Essential.
* Degree in computer science or related discipline / professional qualification – Desirable.
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a software support or business analyst role – Essential.
* Experience of analysing and documenting business processes – Essential.
* Experience of supporting large-scale complex information systems – Essential.
* Knowledge of databases, file structures, and query/reporting tools (e.g. SQL, SSRS, PowerBI, Crystal Reports, Business Objects) – Essential.
* Experience with Fleet Services or similar operational environments – Desirable.
* Experience of mentoring and training staff – Desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills – Essential.
* Strong knowledge of reporting tools and data mining – Essential.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills – Essential.
