Info about what the Sales Engineer role entails
We are looking for a technically minded and commercially astute Sales Engineer to act as the interface between the Sales function and internal engineering teams.
This role is responsible for managing and delivering customer-driven engineering change requests and bespoke client orders from initial concept through to final implementation. You will combine technical understanding with commercial judgement to ensure solutions are viable, compliant, and aligned with wider business objectives.
While the position does not hold direct account ownership, it plays a pivotal role in supporting revenue generation, enabling informed decision-making, and strengthening customer outcomes. With exposure to both technical and commercial strategy, the role offers potential progression into broader business development opportunities over time.
Duties Include:
* Provide technical support to the Sales team on bespoke client orders and non-standard product requirements.
* Take full ownership of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), managing them end-to-end from initiation through evaluation, approval, implementation, and closure.
* Act as the project lead for change requests, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely and controlled delivery.
* Assess and balance technical feasibility, regulatory requirements, operational impact, and commercial considerations.
* Facilitate system-level and product-level technical discussions to align engineering outcomes with customer and business needs.
* Maintain structured documentation, approvals, tracking, and reporting throughout the change lifecycle.
* Identify risks, manage timelines, and ensure clear communication across all involved departments.
* Drive continuous improvement within change management and cross-functional processes.
Requirements for the Sales Engineer
* A strong technical mindset with the ability to understand engineering and product-level detail.
* Commercially aware, sales focussed and confident at assessing the business impact of technical decisions.
* Experience managing projects or coordinating structured change processes from start to finish.
* Ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, product, compliance, operations, and commercial teams.
* Highly organised with strong documentation and reporting skills.
* Clear communicator who can translate technical complexity into commercially meaningful insight.
* Proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable operating at the intersection of technical delivery and revenue support.
