Job Title: Assembly Operative
Reporting to: Team Leader
Location: Basildon
Salary: £16.49 per hour
Working Hours:
* Monday – Thursday: 07:00 – 16:00
* Friday: 07:30 – 12:30
Purpose of the Role for the Assembly Operative-
To assemble aircraft components to customer-defined specifications and standards, ensuring high-quality, precision engineering throughout the process. The role requires a strong attention to detail, practical skills, and experience with a range of hand and air tools.
Key Responsibilities for the Assembly Operative-
* Assemble new parts using solid rivets and appropriate hand and air riveting tools
* Conduct visual inspection of completed products to ensure quality standards are met
* Adjust sheet metal parts as required for assembly
* Use Verniers and other specialist measuring tools accurately
* Operate air tools such as drills, rivet presses, and rivet guns safely and efficiently
* Apply sealants correctly where required
* Work with various materials and finishes according to engineering specifications
* Follow engineering drawings and customer specifications precisely
* Maintain attention to detail and contribute to problem-solving within the assembly process
* Utilize a range of hand tools to produce precision-engineered finished products
Skills & Experience Required for the Assembly Operative-
* Engineering background, ideally in the aerospace industry
* Proven experience assembling precision components
* Experience with air tools, hand tools, and sheet metal adjustment
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* Experience with different materials, finishes, and sealants
* Strong visual inspection skills and attention to detail
* Problem-solving ability and practical mindset
