About the Role
Transport Network Officer – Hertfordshire
Jacobs, in collaboration with Hertfordshire County Council (HCC), is protecting and maximising the value of HCC’s £8 billion portfolio of highways and environmental assets. The role supports the Network Management team in ensuring the network remains safe, efficient and accessible for all users.
Responsibilities
* Validate and process permit applications in line with the East of England Permit Scheme and relevant Codes of Practice.
* Apply and verify permit conditions to minimise disruption and maintain safety.
* Assess Traffic Management Plans, offering practical alternatives and attending site meetings to reduce network impact.
* Process licence applications (including skips, scaffolding, hoarding and cranes) ensuring safe use of the highway.
* Collaborate with film companies and event organisers to support safe, well‑managed activities on public roads.
* Build effective relationships with internal teams, Police, statutory undertakers and other stakeholders on network‑related matters.
* Provide clear, professional responses to enquiries, helping to maintain a positive public image.
Qualifications
* Hold a Lantra 12D M7 Client Officer/Manager Traffic Management qualification and experience in a street works permitting environment such as the East of England Permit Scheme.
* Experience using the DFT Street Manager Street Works system and a working knowledge of the Coordination of Street Works and Road Works code of practice.
* Hold a full clean driving licence.
