PCN Pharmacy Technician (West Wakefield PCN)
We are looking to expand our established Pharmacy team by recruiting a Pharmacy Technician to work alongside our practices and PCN staff. Our PCN staff team currently include clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social prescribers, health and wellbeing coaches, care co-ordinators, occupational therapists, mental health nurses, general practice assistants, GPs and first contact physiotherapists.
You will need to be committed to improving health and putting patients first. Your ability to build effective relationships with patients, GPs, Nurses, Community pharmacists, Hospital and practice staff will aid you in this role, alongside your excellent communication skills. The role may involve occasional travel to 5 local practices and occasionally further afield.
Main duties of the job
To support the Primary Care Network to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes.
The role will also include training and development of administrators to support improved co-ordination and effective pharmacy administration within general practice, especially with relation to repeat prescribing systems and processes.
You may also take part in Quality Improvement work and other PCN projects.
In the role, you will ensure that the practice integrates with community and hospital pharmacy to help utilise skill mix, improve patient outcomes, ensure better access to healthcare and help manage workload. The role is pivotal to improving the quality of care and operational efficiencies so requires motivation and passion to deliver excellent service within general practice.

* Full Driving Licence (including business insurance)
* An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality
* Able to work under pressure
* Hard working, reliable, honest, pleasant and approachable
* Willingness/availability to support the Practice in its provision of primary care medical services during Surgery opening hours
* Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Experience
* Medicines management or dispensing role in the community or within a hospital setting
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of pharmacy procedures
* Understanding of medicines legislation and ethics
* Knowledge of diversity issues and ability to work in a non-discriminatory way
* IT skills including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
* High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
* Experience of prescribing/clinical systems such as SystmOne
* Previous experience working within a patient-facing role
* Skills in analysing and presenting prescribing activity data
Qualifications
* Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
* Recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification
* Evidence of CPD
* Medicines reconciliation certificate, or equivalent
