Electrical Safety Team Lead role at ScottishPower. Location: Glasgow, London, Lowestoft. Salary from £69,200, bonus up to 20%, family health cover and car allowance. Flexible working pattern. Closing Date: 22nd September.
The position is critical in the implementation and management of Electrical Safety in Iberdrola's Projects and Operational sites. The role will actively support, promote and coordinate Electrical safety using the IBRO E&M safety rules across offshore Projects and Operational Sites at a global scale. The Electrical Safety Team Lead will report to the H&S Compliance Manager and support the assurance of Electrical Safety for the offshore business. The role leads a small team of Electrical Safety Specialists from different geographical regions and will standardize knowledge, experience and requirements across Projects and Operations.
The objective is to create a centralized approach in managing Electrical and Mechanical Safety across the IBRO Global Business. The Team Lead will drive the safety rules direction and ensure stakeholders are engaged in this global centralized approach.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Electrical Safety Team Lead will assist the H&S Compliance Manager with the deployment of the IBRO Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules at a global scale. They will work with Site HV specialists and H&S teams from other regions to ensure correct Electrical safety processes are understood and followed. They will provide direct support to the Project Safety Rules committees globally, deputize the H&S Compliance Manager within the IBRO Offshore safety rules committee, and carry out the safety rule authorisation process for all operational staff in line with the IBRO Process. They will resolve electrical safety or safety rules issues, including involvement in RCA where breaches have been identified. They will prepare new sites under construction to ensure commissioning has adequate personnel authorised under safety rules, and support the transition to the O&M phase of projects.
What You’ll Bring
* Fluent in English (German, Spanish or French a plus).
* Background in High Voltage operational areas; previous experience as an SAP, Control Engineer, or Designated Engineer is essential.
* Knowledge of technical specifications in relevant geographical areas (e.g., NGET, RTE, 50Hz).
* Ability to manage a small team and provide safety guidance; interface with stakeholders from senior leaders to technicians.
* Autonomy to make and manage safety decisions; strong knowledge of offshore wind renewables site configurations and assets.
* Proficient knowledge of HV equipment related to HV substations and submarine-to-land transmission cables.
* Ability to read electrical engineering drawings; understanding of Wind Turbine Generators, Offshore/Onshore Substations, inter-array packages and SCADA systems.
* Knowledge of HVDC systems, construction, commissioning and operational protocols.
* Experience in power systems control and monitoring and safe system of work philosophy.
* Familiarity with up-to-date database technologies; ability to lead meetings, generate minutes, and track actions.
* Knowledge of construction and O&M operations and practices.
