Job Summary
The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and nursing home settings. This position involves planning, organising, and facilitating engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being among seniors, including those with dementia and Alzheimer's care needs. The ideal candidate will possess a compassionate nature and strong communication skills to effectively connect with residents and their families.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a variety of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
* Assist in the coordination of group outings, events, and social gatherings.
* Engage residents in meaningful conversations to foster connections and emotional well-being.
* Provide support during activities, ensuring all residents can participate safely and comfortably.
* Monitor resident participation and provide feedback to the care team regarding individual needs and preferences.
* Maintain a clean and organised activity space, ensuring all materials are readily available for use.
* Collaborate with other staff members to create a holistic approach to resident care.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care settings is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with dementia care practices and techniques is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
* A compassionate attitude towards seniors and a genuine interest in enhancing their quality of life.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
