Aspire People are currently seeking a resilient and adaptable Residential Support Worker to join a specialist educational hub supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
About the Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will work directly with a team of skilled professionals to create a safe and nurturing environment for children. Your responsibilities include supporting pupils both in and outside the classroom, helping them develop academic, social, and emotional skills. You will provide one-to-one support, assist with behavioural management, and engage in group activities that promote positive relationships and self-confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide residential support to children with SEMH needs.
2. Assist pupils with learning and social development in both classroom and residential settings.
3. Encourage and promote positive behavioural strategies.
4. Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor pupil progress and development.
5. Support pupils in group and one-to-one sessions to engage with peers.
6. Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils.
7. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to foster emotional and social growth.
8. Assist with daily routines to ensure pupils feel safe, secure, and supported.
About You:
* Previous experience working with children, ideally in residential or educational settings, is highly desirable.
* A passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Children & Young People's Workforce (or similar) are advantageous.
